Let’s be honest, there is a difference between Christian women or children of God and self-proclaimed “Christian” women. All legitimate Christian women and legitimate children of God understand that, as we walk with the Lord, we change in a way that is deeply impactful and, honestly, in a way that transcends precise articulation.
While many self-proclaimed “Christian women” purport being “born again Christians” in an effort to be socially accepted for a grossly sinful past, due to merely being a cultural Christian, and/or in an effort to gain something from someone other than God Himself, the phrase “born again Christian” is supposed to refer to something much more impactful, much more intimate, and much more Holy than that to which many people use it to signify.
Unfortunately, these self-proclaimed “Christian” women are simply missing out on this Grace and Mercy that comes from knowing Jesus by trying to use His name and what He offers to get something from others than only He can give.
IF you want to learn more about this point, this post about idolatry of the heart may be impactful for you and your walk with the Lord.
As we walk with the Lord, He internally revamps us, heals us, and makes us more Christ-like from the inside out, and, as a result of such intimate, internal workings, we, Christian women, change. The ways in which we interact with the world, with other people, and even with God Himself change. As a result, we come to see things completely different than we did before we allowed the Lord to work us from the inside out into a more Christ-like being.
As we go through these changes as Christian women, we learn lessons. While we will continue to learn lessons as we walk with the Lord, and while some of the lessons that we learn as Christian women will be more personal to our life, there are some lessons that we all must learn if we are to truly walk with and know the Lord.
Of course, this list of lessons that all Christian women and all children of God must learn is not exhaustive. This blog post shares four important lessons that all Christian women and all children of God must learn to really know God. There are likely more lessons, and there are certainly lessons that are more personal given the dispositions that we each have and the degree of sin into which we have fallen.
If you are a Christian woman who has learned lessons in your walk with the Lord, please comment if you feel inclined to share them.
May God Bless you & May Peace be with you.
Lesson One
Jesus is the only savior. No Christian woman can save anyone. No Christian woman has the authority or capability of saving anyone other than herself through Jesus Christ.
With this realization, Christian women must understand, that we have to stop trying to save people from their own problems, sins, and shortcomings, even when we think and even when we legitimately do see better than their ways.
If you want to learn about the seven deadly sins so that you may help yourself to be less sinful, click the button.
Now, of course, it is our imperative as Christian women to care about other people. It is our imperative to share the Gospel. It is our imperative to love our neighbor as ourself.
Yet, oftentimes the manner by which Christian women attempt to help others is simply ineffective.
Many Christian women either are
a) self-righteous Christians attempting to force people to convert, to follow our Christian ways (rather than the Christian way), and trying to force-feed Bible verses to people who simply lack the capacity to hear it
and/or are either
b) too nice, too polite, too unfaithful to Christianity and, instead, betray the faith in the name niceness, of getting along, and of, ultimately, removing ourselves from God in the process.
Now, in response to the first way in which Christian women are ineffective (i.e, being self-righteous Christians), the most righteous among us was, in fact, Jesus Christ.
Christ would never drag someone to Church, force someone to be a good person, or to follow the way of His Father. Rather, Jesus allowed people to be exactly who they were even if He knew that they would betray Him.
Instead of Jesus trying to get people to turn to Him, people flocked to Him simply for Him being who He was (i.e., Jesus Christ).
What does this mean?
It means that, until judgement day, at which time every knee will bow and every tongue will profess that Christ is King, everyone must turn to Christ of their own volition of free will, and some people simply never will.
To be like Christ means to be like Christ ourselves, to live a Christ-like life, which naturally inspires others to do the same, rather than attempting to persuade anyone or force anyone into knowing Him.
Now, in response to the second way in which Christian women are ineffective (i.e., being too little of the faith), when we look to Jesus, we see someone who never forced anyone to recognize the Truth of His reality.
In fact, Jesus spoke in parable so that those who may hear, hear rather than speaking so that everyone would understand Him with precision. Additionally, we see someone who died the most excruciating death known to man for being perfect.
What does this mean?
Jesus simply is the Truth, the Way, and the Light, and He continued being this even in times when it may have been to His physical advantage to do the contrary.
If we are to profess ourselves as Christian women and as children of God, then we must have conviction of Truth in our heart even when it appears that we may lose everything and everyone dear to us for our faith.
Lesson Two
Life is for you to receive and is a gift from God for you.
Christian women are not here to please people. Christian women are not here to be worried about anyone else and/or what they may think of them. Rather, Christian women are here to live out the life that God has planned for them and to allow themselves to be internally aligned with His mission for their life.
When we look at Jesus, we see a hero in more ways than one. However, most fundamentally the thing that made Jesus perfect is that He performed His mission as set by God perfectly.
Jesus had possibly the worst life ever. He was publicly executed in the most excruciating way known to man for being perfect, yet Jesus did not try to divert the mission of His life.
Rather, Jesus received and performed the mission that God had for Him, even though it was painful. He was loved by many and hated by many, yet this never corrupted the constitution of who He was or caused Him to divert the mission in any way.
What does this mean?
Now, this realization was somewhat heartbreaking for me at first. What do you mean that my life is a gift from God to me and that no other fellow mortal can give me the love that I so deeply crave?
What do you mean, I have to live my own life rather than trying to get someone else to behave in a way that I think will finally give me the thing that I want so bad?
However, once the initial shock was over, I realized that everything in this life is only temporary. Everything thing that we have, every relationship we experience, and all the feelings, realizations, and beauty that we recognize are all only microcosmic representations of the infinity that God has for us.
All the ugliness, all the trials, all the pain is insignificant and laudable next to His glory.
Hence, all things that we desire to have only ever come from God, so it is far better to surrender to His mission than to try to cultivate and forge a path for ourselves and/or to try to get something that we think we need from someone else. In order for His mission to manifest, we must be willing to receive it.
Lesson Three
God-Given Peace
All Christian women and all children of God must learn the lesson of God-Given Peace through experiencing this peace during chaos.
My life was lacking stability. I had no job. I had no money. I had to move. I had no idea how I was going to be okay. I just knew that I would be.
Unsurprisingly, everything worked out in a way that was actually good for me, and while I did feel annoyed and frustrated at times, I had a deep feeling of Peace through all of the chaos that everything would be okay.
God-Given Peace is a peace that is so fundamental, so quietly mighty, so unshakeable, that it may only come from God. Once you know it, you know it.
Lesson Four
God is not a genie in a bottle.
Being a Christian woman, being a child of God, and having a working relationship with God does not mean that we get to live a life filled with money, ease, and everything that our heart desires.
Too many so-called “Christian” women treat God as if he is some genie in a bottle here to grant all of our wishes and make our life as pleasant and as comfortable as possible.
Once again, look at Jesus. God loved Jesus. Jesus was perfect. Jesus died and was treated in a way that is disgusting.
While God is certainly omnipotent, and He can make anything happen, it doesn’t mean that I am going to be given everything that I want simply because I want it and have a relationship with God.
Rather, being a Christian woman means giving your life to God to be His humble servant. It means that you ask how you may best serve Him rather than asking Him to do things for you or to give you what I want.
Being a child of God means asking God to align your heart with His mission even when that means forgoing what you want.
Lessons Complete?
Of course, this blog post shares a list of four important lessons that all Christian women and children of God must learn. However, as all Christian women and children of God know, the lessons will, of course, keep coming, and there are many lessons that I have learned walking with Him that are not shared in this blog post.
If you have a list of lessons that you have learned as a Christian woman and child of God or even just one or two lessons that you have learned as a Christian woman and child of God, leave a comment sharing them.
